Keynote by Manfred Reichert at BPM 2014 Workshop

Opens internal link in current windowManfred Reichert was invited keynote speaker of the Opens external link in new windowInternational Workshop on Business Processes in Collective Adaptive Systems (BPCAS’14), which was held in conjunction with the Opens external link in new windowBPM 2014 conference.  BPM 2014 took place in Eindhoven from September 8 – 11, 2014.  It is the 12th conference in a series that provides the most prestigious forum for researchers and practitioners in the field of Business Process Management (BPM). Due to the unstable situation in Southern Israel, BPM 2014 was relocated from Haifa, Israel, to Eindhoven.

Helsinki, Beijing, and Vancouver in the previous years, Adelaide next year, and this year? Ulm! More than 150 experts from over 25 countries will travel to Ulm between 1st and 5th September 2014 in order to attend the Opens external link in new window18th International IEEE EDOC Conference.

Regardless of whether an industrial company, a service provider or the public sector – every organization has to embrace state-of-the-art information and communication technology (ICT) to run its business successfully these days. In this context, Enterprise Computing comprises all information systems that ensure the smooth operation of intra- and inter-organizational business processes. Thereby, information-processing technologies come into play as well as methodologies and efficient approaches to develop and run those technologies.

Researchers and students of the Opens internal link in current windowInstitute of Databases and Information Systems (DBIS) have developed, implemented, and validated a core set of gestures for collaboratively modeling business processes on multi-touch devices, including tablets (e.g., Apple iPad) and touch screen collaboration systems (e.g., Microsoft PixelSense).  The developed gesture set is based on experimental results as well as common interaction concepts of multi-touch applications. Altogether, gesture-based interactions with multi-touch systems will foster new ways of collaboratively modeling business processes. The project has been realized by Opens internal link in current windowJens Kolb and Opens internal link in current windowManfred Reichert, together with the students Benjamin Rudner, Adam Just, and Sebastian Ronis.
